Our Mission
To all:

The yearbook is a student publication that is created by students for students at East Rutherford High School.  Students manage all aspects of the yearbook by assuming leadership positions as editors, assistant editors, section editors, business managers, photographers and circulation editors.  While every effort is made towards solid journalism and careful editing and consistent bookkeeping, there are occasional blunders both small and large.  Certainly, no mistake is intentional, but they are inevitable as students are not professionals. Whether we have lost a receipt or neglected to print a paid advertisment, we strive to learn from our mistakes and make amends as appropriate.

In this class, students gain experience with journalism and graphic design, sales and marketing, bookkeeping, time management, deadlines and collaboration.  They are developing skills that they will use in the future.  If you come into A102 on or near a deadline day, you can feel the tension and stress in the air.  The stakes are real--if they do not have their pages done, the yearbook will not be published by Annual Day.

As adviser, my role is to facilitate the production of the yearbook.  I offer suggestions, oversee editing and proofreading and maintain grades for the staff members.  I am also responsible for counting and depositing funds.  I allow the students to make 99% of the decisions that are to be made with regards to the book.  We receive no money from the school for the publication of the yearbook; we are an independent business!  The community supports the book every year, and the program is successful because of this.  Also, we depend on yearbook sales and senior ad sales to keep the cost of our book down for everyone.

Thank you for your support of our yearbook! Please let us know how we are doing; we love feedback.
